Enigmatic quarterback Jim McMahon was one of the poster boys of the team. Millions of photos of the No. 9 were printed in magazines across the United States of McMahon wearing his famous white headband. David Beckham has had a number of iconic hairstyles that have changed pop culture. From the shaved head to the fauxhawk, Beckham has been on the cutting edge of hair fashion since his career started. In the early 2000s, Beckham grew his hair out for the first time. The right-sided midfielder needed to keep his blonde locks in place, so he turned to a thin headband to do the job. Beckham’s look inspired others to do the same. Lionel Messi would later replicate the style as would others.

Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan helped transform professional wrestling in the 1980s from a sport taking place in a cigarette smoke filled auditoriums in front of middle-aged men and women, into a global phenomenon in which kids made up the majority of viewers. Hogan was a true pop culture icon of the time and was on the same level as the top NFL, NBA, or soccer stars of the time. Without Hogan’s ascension to the top and his iconic fashion, the WWE would not be where it is today.
