Arizona Activist Has Been Found Not Guilty After Being Accused Of Harboring Immigrants Illegally

On Wednesday, an activist was acquitted quickly and was charged with harboring illegal immigrants who are two in number and are Central American at a camp in Southern Arizona which is being operated by one of the major humanitarian groups.

The jury verdict in the District Court of the US came after the two-hour-long deliberations by the which was Scott Warren’s second trial. Last June, there was a declaration by a mistrial after a deadlock was created by a jury on charges of harboring.

After the reading out of the verdict, Warren remained stoic and when he came out of the court, he said that basic human kindness has been criminalized by the Government and the attempt failed.

The quick decision by the jury is in sharp contrast to the last trial of Warren when the deliberations of the jurors continued for several days ago when they call it a quit as the consensus was not reached.

Warren was defended by an attorney called Greg Kuykendall who said that the law has been followed carefully by the new jury.

He also said that the evidence was parsed. Rapt attention was paid while the defense has been put forward and while the case was put on by the prosecution and it has been decided by them it is not a crime to provide humanitarian aid as wanted by the government he said.

The 37-year-old Warren has been testified that his work is guided by a neutrality which was done close to the border and it has been denied by him that migrants were never helped by him to hide or he has given them instructions so that they can avoid the authorities.

In 2018 January, U.S. agents have arrested Warren who had a stake at the aid station for humanitarian work in Arizona, which is called ‘The Barn’ where for several days two men who are Central American were staying.

According to Nathaniel Walters, who is the prosecutor said that medical attention was not needed by men and the authenticity was questioned regarding warren’s claim when he said that orientation was going on before leaving the camp.

A group runs the camp whose main aim is to stop the death of immigrants in desert areas and provide preventive measures.

According to Walter, a place was needed by them so that they could hide, and it was given to them by the defendant and it counts as an intention for the law to be violated.

According to Warren who is a group member of No More Death, said that the protocol and training of the group stop the migrants to be advised on matters regarding eluding the authorities. Saving lives is the primary interest.

According to Warren, the spirit of aid which is humanitarian should not be violated and one should not break the law and work within its confines.

The Arizona US Attorney, Michael Bailey expressed his disappointment regarding the verdict, but he promised that the prosecution of people will continue who smuggle and harbor immigrants and for those sneaking past the border.

According to Bailey, no distinction will be made between harboring and trafficking money or else the social justice will be misguided and the belief in the open borders will change.

Kuykendall said that his client was right and did the same which others aspire . his freedom was risked along with livelihood and future and he did all this to help and save a stranger who is in great distress.

Supporters of warren and he said the administration of President Donald Trump has scrutinized the humanitarian groups increasingly who are leaving water for the immigrants in the desert and a search along with rescue operations are conducted when asked about finding a migrant who has been missing.

The trial has been overseen by a federal judge who has barred Warren fro the president’s name to be mentioned.

The Barn has been investigated by the Border Patrol for months, according to released documents as media outlets have been sued for obtaining them.

According to the document, in 2017 April, an anonymous resident from Arizona told officials from border Patrol that few members of the group have been suspected as immigrants are harbored by them in Ajo. After three months group members of No More Deaths have been detained as they are suspected to have vandalized a camera at the National Wild Refuge of Cabeza Prieta where water jugs were left regularly.

In 2017 November, residents were interviewed by agents as they say it has been noticed by them that outside The Barn there was more littering and traffic outside.

A man was encountered by the agents eventually who said that the desert has been traveled across by him along with the other two people as a van picked them up.

It has been suspected that they will be at the building of No More Deaths, in 2018, 17th January, it was started to be watched by fans as Warren was arrested along with two other migrants After video testimony has been provided those people were deported.

While crossing the border, immigrants of thousands in number have lost their lives starting from the middle of the 1990 s. during the period when the enforcement was increased which has pushed many of them on the scorching desert of Arizona.
