2019 started with Aditya Dhar’s URI: The Surgical Strike. The Hindi-military action movie was based on account of the retaliation of the 2016 Uri attack and on the story of Major Kumar Vihaan Shergill.

What happened was that India decided to come down slowly on the evil militants of the Pakistan-sponsored who brutally murdered Indian soldiers at the URI base cape, even if they have to cross the line of control.

Major Kumar Vihaan Shergill, played by Vicky Kaushal, Leads a covert operation across the Myanmar border. When he decides to move back to a peaceful life Delhi, his decision surprises a lot of people. But, the retaliation plan of URI attacks gives him precisely a chance he was looking for.

Vicky Kaushal as Kumar Vihaan fits in perfectly because he gives the character the exact amount of hard work and effort it needed. He is convincing as a Major who decides to avenge his militant brothers who lost their life because Pakistan based evil militant was too coward to face the Indian soldiers.

Kumar Vihaan character is build up by showing the surrounding in which he lives. That included taking caring of his sick mother, building up a sketchy friendship with his pilot colleague Seerat played by Kirti Kulhari. Kumar Vihaan plays a loving uncle to his niece without any clue of the storm that is about to hit him.

After the attack by Pakistan militants at the Uri base camp, the desire of payback builds up the main plot of the movie. Vicky Kaushal makes it easy for the audience to believe that he is Major Kumar Vihaan Shergill because of the way he presented himself in the film.

Not many people know, but Vicky Kaushal spent time with the Indian Army at Indo-China border area of Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, to understand the feel of a soldier. In his Instagram live, Vicky mentioned to his fans that for Kumar Vihaan character, he had to include month-long commando training, which was followed by the rigorous exercise to build his stamina.

The actor gained 15 kgs for playing Kumar Vihaan. An ex-military officer from the UK trained him in ammunition. The actor strictly followed the diet for six months, which included the structured meals that were high on nutrition.

Many critics said that Kumar Vihaan is one of the most exceptional acting done by an actor in a long time. They also mentioned about the mature performance given by Vicky Kaushal with going overboard with a single expression throughout the movie. Vicky aptly captured the spirit of the character he was playing as Kumar Vihaan Shergill, and he was effortless on-screen.

URI was Vicky Kaushal’s first lead solo movie. After giving back-to-back hits in 2018, URI: The Surgical Strike released on January 11. The film directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwalla. After the movie, all people and our hon’ble prime minister could say was, “How’s the Josh?”
