Foxconn, The Iphone Manufacturer Is Going To Make Masks To Prevent Coronavirus


        

 

 

The Apple iPhone maker Foxconn who is reckoned as one of the biggest electronics giants has opted to take an unusual step as parts of its production unit are switched to make masks which can be considered as surgical one.

The firm is on its way to allow the reopening of its production lines which are regular making electronics and has gone for a big push because it has been closed for the recent outbreak of coronavirus.

The demand for the masks has soared up because of the outbreak and there has been a shortage of supply all around the globe.

Foxconn has stayed put to their aim for producing two million masks in a day by the end of this month.

On WeChat, a very popular social media platform, the firm has sent a message saying every second are vital to fighting against this epidemic.

They also added that precautionary actions are taken earlier so that the virus can be prevented and lives have to be saved earlier to overcome this problem very soon.

The largest electronics manufacturer in the world Foxconn who is also into making iPhone makes products of consumer electronics and parts which also includes PlayStations, Amazon’s Kindle and also iPad.

The test production of masks has already been started by the company as it has been said at its manufacturing plant which is its flagship unit in Southern China in Shenzhen.

In the first instance, the mask is going to protect its workers from getting infected. It has been believed by the firm that it will count as the social responsibility of the company and not just any other big corporate responsibility only.

Masks will be provided to others outside the company once the full productions start to roll out.

It has been said from the firm that measurement equipment of infrared temperature which is of the new generation will be used at its facilities so that it can detect any infections related to potential coronavirus that might have afflicted its workforce.

Operations have been closed by Foxconn like many other companies in response to the outbreak during the break of Lunar New Year. The factories were running their operation during the holidays in previous years however different measures were taken this year. Permissions are now been sought from related authorities so that work can be resumed in the plants which are closed.

The concerns were grave as the announcement came as factories were closed and there have been restrictions on travel ll across China that will lead to major impact around the world on the supply of goods.

It has been estimated by some analysts that the global shipment of smartphones would dip by a staggering 10% this year and there will be a shortage of iPhone and the new iPhone 11 will be hit most badly.

General Motors, the US carmaker joined in the efforts so that the shortage of surgical masks are reduced.

It is a joint venture of China that is SAIC-GM-Wuling which has already announced that 14 production lines have been set up to make every day a humungous 1.7 million masks.
