The police department made a ‘wrong decision’ as they have failed to storm in and stop the killings that took place in a primary classroom in Uvalde, Texas. The gunman had killed 19 children inside the school.

The police force was waiting outside for the school janitor to come with the keys. The police department believed that there wasn’t any ‘active shooter’ present inside the school. Though, the students repeatedly called the police department.

Mr. McCraw confirmed that there was 40 minutes gap between the police department showing up at the Robb Elementary School and they decided to storm the classroom where the gunman had barricaded himself but was shot dead on the spot.

The senior officer presumed that ‘no kids were at risk’ or ‘no one was living anymore’. Their delay to respond to the matter promptly has left the parents of the children frustrated. They gathered outside the school, and they were handled and handcuffed by the police while the gunman was still inside.

This incident has increased the anger against the security department. And the law enforcement should have handled the situation in a more responsive manner. Authorities have struggled to provide the exact timeline of how the events have taken place inside the school.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, ‘As everybody has learned, the information that I was given turned out in part to be inaccurate,’ he also revealed that there was an anonymous donor who donated 175,000 dollars to the funerals of the victims.

He said, ‘We appreciate that anonymous donor for his generosity,’ adding more, ‘and we will ensure that those resources get into the right hands.’

The gunman crashed his car near 11.30 the local time, and by 11.35 he had entered the classroom. And has barricaded himself into the classroom. Police officers followed him inside the school building but remained in the hallway.

Mr. McCraw confirmed that 19 police officers were present inside the school but did not take any immediate action to get inside the room. By it was 12.03 a student started to call 911 repeatedly.

Mr. McCraw said, ‘With the benefit of hindsight where I’m sitting now, of course, it was not the right decision. It was the wrong decision. There’s no excuse for that. Amid this incident, he said this was a ‘tragic’ mistake of the police department.

The great-grandfather of 10 years old Alexandria Rubio, who died in the attack, told that it was a cowardly step by the police.

After the gunman was shot dead 1657 rounds of ammunition and 60 magazines were found in his possession by the police. As the investigation progressed they have seen various social media chats about buying a gun. He asked his sister to buy him a gun but she refused though.

He made a declaration on a social media platform, ‘I shot my grandmother’ and ‘I’m going to shoot up a school’.

The US president Joe Biden and the first lady will be visiting Uvalde on Sunday.
