Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhary flogged at the Taliban’s rule on Monday claiming it as “retrogressive” when he criticized the Taliban’s latest decision regarding banning women travelers from going out in public spaces alone.

The Taliban went on to claim that women who are in need of traveling for long distances must be accompanied by male relatives with them. The Taliban also said that the rule will apply as the same when women are in need of going out in public spaces as they are barred from going out alone. Chaudhary criticized the decision by stating, “Women can’t travel alone or go to schools and colleges alone, this type of retrogressive thinking is dangerous for Pakistan”.

Afghanistan came under the rule of the Taliban from August 15, 2021, when they were successful in dethroning the then Afghan president Ashraf Ghani by capturing the presidential palace and forcing him to take refuge in the United Arab Emirates. Girls have been out of school in many parts of Afghanistan as they are afraid of the Taliban’s rule. They are in absolute shambles and are completely hopeless about their future.

Women who are educated enough for gaining employment also face a dull future, as they are not going to get offered proper employment and in some cases, women are also barred from going to offices in Afghanistan. In addition, women who were working earlier are being cut off from their respective jobs, which has instilled a hopeless mindset when a woman perceives anything about the Taliban.

Minister Fawad Chaudhary also stated that Pakistan must focus on its own progressiveness. He also went on to take Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s words and said that Pakistan has no religious business with minorities. He also claimed that Jinnah never wished for Pakistan to become a religious state and accused the people of bringing up his name in order to call Pakistan a backward country nowadays.

The information minister also said that the vision that Muhammad Ali Jinnah had  was of making Pakistan a progressive and developed nation but in reality, it has come back to haunt due to the same retrogressive mentality of people living in the country which also led to the decline of Pakistan.

He concluded by saying that by defeating the retrogressive mentality and filling up people with positive thinking and mindset, Pakistan and any country in the world can move forward.
