Two of the Russian billionaires have called for peace in Ukraine. One of them is Mikhail Fridman, and another is Oleg Deripaska. The end-to-end conflict triggered by the Russian president Vladimir Putin has already caused many disruptions, what Fridman called a tragedy for both the countries’ people.

In a letter to staff, Fridman who was born in Ukraine told that this conflict would accentuate further issues between two peoples of the countries who maintained fraternity for centuries.

Fridman wrote in the letter, “I was born in Western Ukraine and lived there until I was 17. My parents are Ukrainian citizens and live in Lviv, my favorite city”.

He further added, “But I have also spent much of my life as a citizen of Russia, building and growing businesses. I am deeply attached to the Ukrainian and Russian peoples and see the current conflict as a tragedy for them both.”

Another Russian billionaire took to the Telegram and also called for peace ad put a stop to the matter “as fast as possible”.

The founder of the Russian aluminum giant Rusal, Deripaska said, “Peace is important”. In the company, he still owns shares via his parent company En+ Group.

USA imposed sanctions on influential Russians including Deripaska for having close ties with President Putin and Russia, after an alleged interference of the country in the USA’s election in 2016.

Although Putin said that he had to launch the military operations concerning the security of the people of Russia, the billionaire from Russia Fridman said, “This crisis will cost lives and damage two nations who have been brothers for hundreds of years.”

He also said, “While a solution seems frighteningly far off, I can only join those whose fervent desire is for the bloodshed to end. I’m sure my partners share my view.”

Another billionaire from Moscow said on this matter on the condition of anonymity, “It is going to be catastrophic in all senses: for the economy, for relations with the rest of the world, for the political situation.”

The billionaires who gathered for a meeting with the Russian presidents were silent in the meeting. The anonymous billionaire said, “Businessmen understand very well the consequences. But who is asking the opinion of business about this?”

The war will have an impact on the balance sheet of the companies and countries worldwide. One can hope that it gets over soon as the war will further accentuate the economic downturn already done by the Covid 19.
