UNICEF And ICC Extended Their Partnership For The Coming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

With the motto of women empowerment, The International Cricket Council(ICC) has officially given a declaration today that it has extended its collaboration with UNICEF with the coming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup which is about to commence by 2020.

This extended partnership will help ICC to provide the necessary platform to UNICEF for raising funds for the underprivileged girls and the women which may bring an effective change to their life.

UNICEF has successfully raised $180,000 during ICC Men’s World Cup and this fund will directly go to Afghanistan to help in some girls cricket project. Reports have confirmed that for 12 months the event will run, it will bring out a new competitive cricket for school girls and also will provide necessary cricket equipment to them and arrange training for near about 120 teachers. This program will also provide awareness to the elders about the beneficial aspect of playing cricket.

Similarly, the money which will be raised during ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will go to projects like this, which will include an innovative program to support girl’s association in Cricket in Sri Lanka to bring prosperity in communities. The program has been designed in such a way that even the fans can take a part in this journey of transforming lives by donating a certain amount of their choice when they will buy tickets for the game.

Manu Sawhney, the CEO of ICC, is extremely delighted to have this extended partnership with UNICEF as he thinks that the next goal of ICC is to train and strengthen women and girls around the world for this beautiful game so the fundraising activity will help them to do that.

He added that sport can be used as a tool to modify the lives of millions in Afghanistan and Sri Lanka with skillful teachers who will be able to train cricket to girls for the days to come.

Ann Sherry AO, the chairperson of UNICEF Australia also shared his excitement over this partnership. He said Cricket has a prolific capacity to make changes in the lives of children and especially of the girls as it helps them to construct skills for leadership and also helps them to achieve their goals and connect within communities. He felt proud that Australia has been selected to host for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

The UNICEF and ICC partnership started in 2015 as the part to outrun ICC’s global community program ‘Cricket 4 good’. Over the years this partnership and public donations continued to bring happiness and prosperity to the lives of children through these programs.

The tickets for all the T20 World Cup 2020 matches are available now at t20worldcup.com and this includes the tickets of semi-final and final match also. The price of the tickets for children starts at just $5 and for adults just $20. The fans will have the option of donating to UNICEF during the time of purchase.
