On Sunday, Kellyanne Conway, who was U.S. President Donald Trump’s one of the most influential and longest-serving advisers announced that she is ready to leave the White House by the end of this month.

Conway who was Trump’s campaign manager during the stretch run of the 2016 race, was reportedly the first woman who had successfully steer a White House bid and went ahead to become a senior counselor to the President. She informed Trump about her decision on the Oval Office.

In her resignation letter which she posted on Sunday night, the reason cited by Conway was that she needed to spend some quality time with her four children. Her husband, George had become an outspoken Trump critic and her family has become a subject of Washington’s rumor mill.

She stated that they disagree about plenty of things but what keeps them united is on what perhaps matters the most, the kids. She added that for now and also for her beloved children, there shall be less drama and more mama.

However, Conway is still slated to speak at the Republican National Convention this week. Her husband, an attorney who had renounced Trump after the 2016 campaign, had reportedly become a member of the Lincoln project, an outside group of Republicans devoted to defeating Trump.

The politically adversarial marriage had generated much speculation online and in the Beltway. On Sunday, George Conway announced that he took a leave of absence from both Twitter and the Lincoln project.

For years, Kellyanne Conway had worked as a Republican pollster and an operative and used to originally support Sen. Ted Cruz in the 2016 Republican primary. Moving forward she moved over to the Trump campaign and on that August she became the campaign manager as Stephen Bannon became the campaign chairman. Additionally, Bannon has been indicted two days ago for fraud.

The reason cited by Conway stated that she needed to help her children’s remote learning during the corona virus pandemic due to which she has decided to step away from her position. All this while, she had remained a trusted voice within the West Wing and had spearheaded numerous initiatives including the one on combating opioid abuse.

The lady was also known for her robust defense of the President during media appearances and at times delivering dizzying rebuttals while at one point even extolling the virtues of alternative facts to strengthen her case. Conway was also an informal adviser to the President’s reelection effort but however, she resisted and moved over to the campaign.

Precisely, the departure of Conway comes at a very inopportune time for Trump, who is currently facing a deficit in the polls as the Republican National Convention starts on Monday. The news of her exit was first reported by The Washington Post.
