On Thursday, the Facebook services have been disrupted in Myanmar and it happened days after the power is seized by the army. Antonio Guterres, the UN Chief has ensured that the world must rally together and make sure that military putsch is failed.

On Monday, Myanmar plunged back directly into military rule as the soldiers detained Aung San Suu Kyi, the de facto leader, and other major civilian leaders as the country are rocked by a series of dawn raids and it has put an end to the brief experiments with democracy made by the country.

International condemnations are sparked off by the coup and there have been fears that the military might drag more than 54 million people back to the junta rule that has loomed large on the country for decades. This has turned Myanmar into one of the most repressive and impoverished nations in Asia.

The takeover by the military was not met by any large protest on the streets as the armored cars and soldiers are back on the streets of the major cities in the country.

But people are flocking to social media and shared plans and voiced opposition for civil disobedience especially on the major social media platform Facebook- which is the gateway to the internet for many people in Myanmar.

The internet monitors and Facebook, on Thursday, has confirmed that service providers are restricting access to some of the services, that includes Facebook itself along with its messaging app and other platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp.

A company spokesperson has spoken to media outlets that they are very much aware that Facebook is disrupted currently for some people.

The spokesperson also further added that they have urged the authorities for restoring connectivity so that the people of Myanmar can communicate with their friends and families and can access important information.

The internet outages in the world are monitored by NetBlocks and they have said that the access is restricted by multiple internet providers in Myanmar. This is because the operators are complying with an apparent blocking order.

The international community is scrambling to respond as they urge that the coup must fail that has been done by Min Aung Hlaing, the Army chief.

Antonio Guterres, the UN- Secretary-general has said on Wednesday that he is going to pressure the generals in Myanmar to reverse the course. This is one of the most powerful comments that came from him.

Guterres spoke to news and media outlets and said that they are going to do everything and try to mobilize all the key factors and international community and will put a lot of pressure on Myanmar and make sure that the coup fails.

The coup was justified by Min Aung Hlaing and has alleged that there has been widespread voter fraud during the elections in November that has been noticed by international observers and it has been declared fair and free.
