Chatgpt’s New Rival Bard By Google Is Launched For 18+ Users

Google has already started its new journey of AI by rolling out its latest technology, the AI chatbot that is known as Bard. Currently, this technology is only available for certain users who are over 18 years of age. Hopefully, there will be wide access to this chatbot in the coming days.

When it comes to chatbots, ChatGPT has already garnered a huge amount of attention from users around the world and is being heavily used in multiple projects. However, unlike its rival, Bard can offer access to up-to-date information from the internet along with a ‘Google it’ button that utilizes the search engine to assess the request. It also namechecks its sources for facts such as Wikipedia.

However, Google is taking safe steps as it has already warned that Bard can have “limitations”. As it is just the beginning, it can also share misinformation and display bias. Google is claiming that is will happen as the chatbot is learning from real-world information, where the biases already exist. It means that there is a possibility for stereotypes and false information to appear in its responses.

How do the chatbots work?

AI chatbots are highly advanced and programmed to answer questions online using human-like, natural language. Starting from marketing copy to computer code or the assignments of the students; the chatbot can write anything.

ChatGPT was launched last year in November and it gained more than one million users within just a week. Even Microsoft has invested a huge amount of money to incorporate this product in their search engine Bing. Currently, it is looking forward bring out a powerful version that can sync with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

However, Google is very cautious and gradually progressing in the AI race. Bard has launched in the UK and the US, and users are currently registering to use it. Being a descendant of Google’s earlier language model known as Lamda; it is safe to say that the development of Bard started long ago.

How Bard is going the change the perception of AI chatbots?

Google senior product director Jack Krawczyk said that this is “an experiment” which will be a “launchpad for creativity.” He said, “So much of the coverage is that AI is the hero.” Mr Krawczyk further added, “I think the human is the hero and large language models are here to help unlock creativity.”

While ChatGPT is unable to get access to the database after 2021, Bard has access to all kinds of current information. This AI chatbot is programmed not to offer any offensive prompts. Therefore it does not show anything harmful, illegal, sexually explicit, or personally identifiable information.

“With great power comes great responsibility”, and Google knows that well. There is a theory that chatbots could one day replace the lucrative business of internet search or even take over the world. Though Google does not believe that, they are still aware of the responsibility and principles that come with the tech.
