According To Trump Advisor Turkey Will Be Taken To Task By The US As They Bought Defense System From Russia

Turkey’s leader will be confronted by US President Donald Trump for the decision of the former for buying an air defense system from Russia. The decision was taken in the White House when they met this week amidst straining of relations between the two allies of NATO.

According to Robert O’Brien, the national security advisor of Trump on Sunday said that Turkey’s move to purchase the S-400 system from Russia has made the US very upset. The US further added that the system has got no compatibility with forces in NATO as the fighter jet program F-35 can be compromised as it will aid the Russian intelligence. Turkey was removed from the F-35 program by the Trump administration in July.

CBS was told by O’ Brien ‘Face the Nation’ as the Russian system will not be get rid of by Turkey. US sanctions are likely to be imposed on Turkey as a bipartisan majority will back it in the congress. Trump is slated to meet Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish President this week on Wednesday and Thursday he is scheduled to meet Secretary-General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg.

According to O’ Brien S-400 has got no place in NATO. Significant military purchases from Russia has got no place in NATO. The message regarding this purchase will be delivered to him by the US President when he will be on a visit to Washington.

However according to O’ Brien, to keep Turkey in NATO, the US will do everything.

There has been criticism for Turkey from all corners as its incursion took place in northern Syria and the Kurdish forces were attacked by them who are fighting along with the US against the militants of Islamic State. Before the incursion took place, US forces have been removed from there for which Trump has been criticized. According to O’ Brien, the offensive of Erdogan in Syria has been denouncing and the way has not been paved by the administration.
