Their stance on equality and diversity is defended by The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after Michael Holding, the West Indian Great criticized Australia and England for not taking a knee in favor of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement during the limited-overs series that is going on.

On their shirts, the English wore logos of ‘Black Lives Matter’ during their test series against the West Indies and took the knee by protesting against racism but they took the option of not continuing with the practice in the upcoming series against Australia and Pakistan.

Holding spoke to media outlets and said that given the fact that West Indies returned home but the message has to be respected for what it stands for.

He further added that in the United States racism is more acute compared to other places but the mantle was taken by the entire world for spreading the word and the message out to make it loud and clear that it is time for equal justice and equality.

The ECB came out with a lame excuse as neither England nor Pakistan took out the signal forward. It is not just between white and black but a bigger issue.

Before the beginning of the current series, Aaron Finch, the Australian skipper said his team is not going to take the knee because more than the protest, education is far more important.

In response to it, a statement was issued by ECB to the comments made by the Holding, the former fast bowler from England.

ECB had said that in response to the debate of Black Lives Matter that they view the issue with diversity space and total inclusion so that sustainable and long-term changes happen for all the communities who get unequal treatment.

They further added that their diversity strategy and refreshed inclusion that are published at the start of the series with the West Indies have committed to various comprehensive initiatives that mainly focuses on eliminating all kinds of discrimination from every area of cricket.

The women’s and men’s players of England are very much committed to using their influence and reach so that they can keep on promoting diversity and inclusion in perpetuity, for the betterment of sport and cricket. They also said that they very much understood the importance that symbolism has got along with its power so that the issue is kept high on the agenda. The primary goal of ECB is to ensure the delivery of both change and reach.

Holding spoke about the comments made by Finch and said that education and raising awareness are very important tools while fighting for equality.

Holding added that he is happy to hear from Finch that nobody is barred from playing because of religion, ethnicity, gender, and race.

Holding said that it is a lame statement as no sports barred anyone from playing because of these reasons.
