The United Nations released a report on the health of planet earth on Thursday. The experts are saying that there is a radical shift in the condition than mankind assumes.

The report is called “Making Peace with Nature”. The report consists of a total of 168 pages and explains the science regarding drastic climate change.

The report also emphasizes the value of “natural capital” of soil, water, air, and geology which is more important than mankind’s war and pursuit of wealth and luxury.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said “For too long, we have been waging a senseless and suicidal war on nature,” while presenting the report on Thursday.

She further added, “The result is three interlinked environmental crises: climate disruption, biodiversity loss, and pollution that threaten our viability as a species.”

The report is released under the United Nations Environment Program. Inger Andersen, the executive director of the program said, “We are destroying the planet, placing our own health and prosperity at risk.”

The current situation of the world is far from the objectives that have been agreed upon by all the countries to save the planet. Many endangered species and ecosystems are vanishing rapidly despite all the acts and commitments to protect them.

The report further states that the ozone layer is gradually healing but at the same time, mankind is drifting apart from the goal to keep global warming at the limit.

It reads, “At the current rate, warming will reach 1.5°C by around 2040 and possibly earlier. Taken together, current national policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions put the world on a pathway to the warming of at least 3°C by 2100.”

Mankind is already paying the price with the increasingly extreme weather and outbreaks of a different new disease.

There are chances of new diseases emerging from the increasing mortality rate of wildlife animals. Such as COVID-19, which was considered to be spread from the bats. Similar reports have been found from the northern regions, where a disease called Anthrax was spreading from the carcass of Reindeers.

The toxic and chemical waste from the pollution causes around 9 million premature deaths every year, according to this latest report.

As the world is slowly gaining its pace back with the reemerging factories, farms, and offices; this could be the right time to change all the plans.

The Government is thinking about implementing new policies to push their economy further and that can be an obstacle ob this historic moment to save the planet earth.

The report says, “The COVID-19 crisis provides the impetus to rethink how society can accelerate the transformation to a sustainable future.”

The report offers a suggestion for all, from the Government officials to the individual citizens, a new way to think about the environment which will gradually and positively increase the GDP and economy of any country.
