A police officer said, ‘We are investigating the possible motives of the hostage-taker and the explosives he carried on his body’.

They have found explosives on the body of the suspect, though it was not ready to detonate, the investigation team informed.

Police officers were first informed about the scenario around 17.40 of local time; the suspect entered the building in a camouflaged military-like outfit.

Around 70 people were able to leave the building while a few of them hid in the cupboard of the store. And one was kept as a hostage. There are no other injuries were reported one the crime scene.

Various images have circulated on Dutch media which shows that the man is waving firearms in one hand and holding a person with the other hand. The photo was sent to Amsterdam TV channel AT5; it appeared that the person is likely to have explosives strapped to his body.

The photos showed that the hostage was hand-cuffed from his back while sitting opposite of the hostage-taker, which went viral on the internet.

After five hours of hostage standout, the hostage managed to escape while water was being delivered at the request of the gunman. From 5.30 to 10.45 the situation was worsening.

The gunman chased the hostage and was hit by a police car a BMW X5. After that, the suspect lay on the streets motionless. A robot was sent over to check the explosive that was attached to his body.

He was arrested immediately and was taken to the hospital, where he died of the injuries he had.

The Apple store made a statement by saying, ‘we are incredibly grateful and relieved that our employees and customers in Amsterdam are safe after this terrifying experience’.
