Mykonos Airport Transfer Options Explained In Full

Searching for Mykonos airport transfers won’t reveal as much as transport options as expected. At least not as often seen with other Greek airports. However, limited doesn’t mean there is nothing to choose from. Quite the opposite, there are options for those traveling on a budget and those that prefer comfort above anything.

Here is how to get to and from Mykonos airport.

Rent-a-Car (The most expensive option)

You can rent a car from the airport and drive yourself to your place of stay. The roads on Mykonos are well marked, plus most rental cars come with GPS, so you won’t have any trouble finding your destination. The biggest downside is the rental fee that can be quite steep as in most tourist places like Mykonos.

Airport Taxi

Officially, there are just 35 taxi vehicles serving the Mykonos airport. But during high season there are additional taxi cars that also offer transport from and to the airport. You can recognize the licensed taxis by their yellow and black rooftop signs.

But no matter what, the ride from the airport to Mykonos Town and vice versa should cost you around 29€. Typically, the ride takes around ten minutes, and there are taxis available 24/7, all year long.

Airport Bus (Cheapest Option)

The bus is by far the cheapest option as it costs only 1.6 euros. Typically the ride takes around 15 minutes. However, many times, especially during high season, the busses are packed with tourists, and it can be quite unpleasant.

The bus runs only from 10 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. There is no bus if you arrive at night or early in the morning.

Welcome Pickups (Top Value)

This is a relatively new service that is similar to a regular taxi but with a twist. This option removes the hassles found with regular taxis and brings some cool features on top of all. Here’s what it means to use Welcome Pickups services.

So, all the booking is made online and in just a few steps. Once you complete your booking, you will receive a confirmation for your booking. Every customer gets the same features:

  • You get the service from a professional driver that has been hand-picked for driving skills, as well as his manners. Plus, the driver speaks English. That way, you can ask him questions and get honest answers. All drivers help the clients find their way around the island.
  • Once the booking is completed, you can expect the Welcome Pickups driver at your gateway exit even if your plane is running late. The drivers monitor flights and know when to arrive on time. It doesn’t matter if your flight is five minutes, five hours, or fifteen hours late, your driver will be there to greet you and transport you.
  • Welcome Pickups also offers 24/7 customer support.
  • Welcome Pickups also offer transport with a van in case you travel as a group.

Welcome Pickups costs the same as a regular taxi. You can get all these perks for the price of a regular taxi. How’s that for a twist!
