Julian Melcer is a resident of Tel Aviv and he is cleaning up the beach with a single cigarette butt at a time.

He is seen prowling the shore with a large plastic bag in his hand. He is a 26-year-old from Israel who has got a vision to treat every day as Earth Day. He is seen selling small pouches which are called pocket ashtrays as he gives them to smokers so that they get deterred from littering as he can be seen picking up butts.

He also said that he has come to protect the world. He also added that whenever he sees trash on the beach, it starts burning his eyes, bones, and souls.

It also provides a living for Melcer as he can earn about $3000 to $4000 in a month. The peak comes during the summer season as he can sell the pocket ashtrays for $6 for each piece. He is at it for three years and the Tel Aviv resident has started by creating beautiful artwork from the butts collected by him. He has also found a unique way to recycle the large haul of butts.

The butt-filled plastic bags are stuffed into boxes and he mails all of that to the NoButts organization located in Ireland. Over here, the plastic filters are extracted for repurposing. According to his estimates, the volunteer group which he is part of has picked up almost one million butts.

According to NoButts, the most toxic thing on the planet is the single-used plastics for cigarette filters. They have said through their websites that there are more than six trillion butts that are littered every year worldwide.

About the campaign, Melcer has said that this work is very important as nature is hurt by cigarettes and it also hurt the beaches that are loved so much by everybody.
