According to Rohit Sharma, the white-ball vice-captain of India, Rishabh Pant should be allowed to enjoy his cricket and he should be left alone without any pressure.

Rashid Latif, the former Pakistan wicket-keeper, recently gave a simple explanation about Rishabh Pant and said that he is not playing for his own rather he is playing to entertain everyone. The wicket-keeper batsman is unleashing box office stuff for the fans of cricket. He is one of the main reasons why cricket fans from all across the globe are switching on the television sets whenever India is playing. This is even though the team has got the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in their ranks.

The return of Pant to the team of T20 international has infused an aura of excitement in the five-match series that will be held in Ahmadabad against England. The series will kick-off on Friday night and it is going to be a humdinger of a contest. It is hardly a coincidence that the surge by India since the all-time low score of 36 in the first test against the mighty Australians that took place in December has started with the return of Pant to the test team. His brilliant 97-runs knock at the Sydney Cricket Ground was instrumental for the team to earn a brave draw. In the fourth test in Brisbane, he was unbeaten at 89 as a miraculous chase was pulled off by a depleted India and ensured the second successive series win Down Under.

Pant’s reverse lap played against James Anderson, the legendary fast bowler of England in the last test match of the series in Ahmadabad was hailed as ‘best shot of the year 2021’. It was a match-winning hundred and a jewel in the crown and Ravi Shastri, coach of team India has said that Pant has done enough for team India in the last 2 to 3 months and this cannot be done by many players in their entire career.

Pant has seemingly fulfilled the expectations of filling the big shoes left by MS Dhoni. Others have even drawn comparisons and said him to be the ‘left-handed Virendra Sehwag’. Rohit Sharma, the vice-captain, on Wednesday, has echoed what the fans are feeling now. The time has come for Pant as he can go from strength to strength and there is no looking back after that. As of now, he has provided an exceptional performance starting from the series against Australia to the series against England at home. He is just unstoppable and no one should put pressure on him and allow him to play naturally.

Rohit Sharma is someone who has faced immense pressure because of expectations and he has gone through quite a lot of failures. Later on, he found the calling as a destructive opener in one-day cricket. Rohit has understood the fact that Pant should be allowed to play naturally.
